  Stretch Hood for Coca Cola

Faster operation, increased up-time in production and less film changes.

Coca Cola Tapperierne, Denmark, has recently undertaken a major investment to increase throughput, packaging stability and cost efficiency at its bottling facility in Fredericia, Denmark.

As part of this investment Coca Cola, Denmark has commisioned a highly efficient stretch hood system from the Danish company Lachenmeier A/S.

Coca Cola supplies Coca Cola in 1½ litre PET bottles wrapped in carry-on-packs of e.g. 3 or 4 pieces and ½ litre PET bottles in 6 packs to vendors in Denmark, and therefore required a fully automatic wrapping system capable of wrapping 120 pallets per hour for 16 hours a day, 5 days a week and 51 weeks a year.

With the Stretch Hood machine from Lachenmeier, Coca Cola achieved a faster operation, increased production up-time, and less stops due to film changes than the conventional stretch wrappers - and last but not least a totally stable load.

The Lachenmeier stretch hood system receives packs that have been palletised and automatically gauges the height of each load prior to entering the machine. Up to three different film sizes can be selected depending on the need of wrapping ¼, ½ or full pallets, and the hood of the correct length is manufactured and applied over the load and under the pallet.

Further, the stretch hood system gurarantees a dust proof, tamper evident, consolidated load, overcoming the problems which might occur with conventional stretch wrapping.

"Given the heavy demands we place on any machine in an operation like ours, I am always sceptical about the engineering quality of new equipment. But our experience with Lachenmeier proved that the engineering quality is very good, the system is robust and simple to operate and completely reliable. Lachenmeier is a very good company to deal with, always responsive and listening to our needs", says Plant Manager Peter Høeg Jensen.
