Production increase and cost reduction
New and faster technology for the packaging of washing machines
B/S/H Balay, a member of the B/S/H Group, has recently installed new End-of-Line packaging equipment. The investment consists of a highly sophisticated and efficient sleeve wrapping and thermo shrinking system from the Danish company Lachenmeier.
An increase in production capacity and a wish to cost reduce their product packaging resulted in the decision to invest in new and faster technology.
B/S/H Balay supplies high volumes of washing machines and therefore required a fully automatic packaging system capable of packing more than 240 products per hour.
The machine from Lachenmeier also gives B/S/H Balay some advantages for the future market demands. As Mr. Mayor expresses it "our colleagues in B/S/H Berlin are very satisfied with the operation of their Lachenmeier Sleeve Wrapping machines". Our identical plants have capacities of up to 300 products per hour assuring B/S/H Balay that we in the future can use the same equipment in case of increased production demands.
Moreover, the Lachenmeier machines are very compact and thus spacesaving. "The Lachenmeier Sleeve Wrapping plants' efficiency and high packing quality have resulted in direct advantages such as less repacking of already packed products, higher top on top stacking, reduction of film gauge and reduction in film consumption. As an example, we have reduced our energy consumption with 40%", Mr. Mayor continues.
The Lachenmeier Sleeve Wrapping system consists of a fully automatic film application unit, which applies the film onto the product on four sides after which the product is transferred into a patented film fixation system. After film fixation, the product is finally fed into the shrinking unit, which consists of a turning unit rotating the product between two non hazardous shrinking columns shrinking the PE film using the exact amount of hot air.
Lachenmeier's sleeve wrappers are capable of continous production even during film change and at cycle times of less than 12 seconds (more than 300 products per hour is not unusual ..!!).
"The overall experience with Lachenmeier before, during and after the purchase of the system has been good, we are very satisfied. The engineering, after-sales service and delivery of spare parts have been excellent. If we were to implement another system, we would choose Lachenmeier again. We are very satisfied", concludes Mr. Mayor.
